News Feed
A News Feed provides users with frequently updated content. News Feeds highlight information that includes profile changes, upcoming events, and birthdays, among other updates.
The default layout displays four of the most recent news items in a row. Each news story features the item's image, title, short description, and link.
Displaying Images In Feed
If your News Feed is pulling from a Scholars Blog or other WordPress Site, you will need to install and activate the free plugin, Featured Images in RSS. This plugin is already install for Emory Scholars Blogs and will just need to be activated.
There is no need to upgrade this plugin, however, in the settings, you will need to set...
- image size to 'Full Size',
- image alignment to 'Image Centered Above Text',
- image padding to '5'px, and
- image clickable to 'unchecked'.
After the plugin has been setup, be sure to set the Featured Image for each blog post. All images should have the same aspect ratio. Please visit our section on photos for more information.
If you experience issues setting up this plugin, please add us as an administrator for the blog/site, and we will be able to make these changes on your behalf.
When creating a News Feed in other content areas besides the content row component, the News Feed is displayed in a vertical card format. Editors will also have additional options with this style of News Feed such as:
- Featured News Item
- Variable Count of News Items
- Custom Title and Subtitle
- Main News Page Link
